Do I need to be drug free to get support for work?
No. There will be some jobs we can’t put you forward for and being drug free will give you more opportunities. If this is your goal, we will help you get drug free.
Do I need to have finished school to do the programme or get some help?
No. It doesn’t matter if you have no NCEA levels you can do our programme and get our help.
Are you programmes and services free?
Do I have to have work experience or worked before?
No. You will get work experience on our Youth Employability Programme.
Do I get to decide on my work experience?
We talk to you to figure out what will be a good placement for you. It could be something you’ve always wanted to do, or something you’ve never heard of before. See our business partner page for examples of work experience opportunities.
Do I need to have ID to get a job?
Usually but we help you get your IDs so that you are work-ready.
If I got fired from my job do you still help me look for a new one?
Yes. We will work with you to figure out what went wrong and what the next steps are so that succeed in your next job.
What if I don’t have a good reference?
You will get a good reference on our Youth Employment Programme if you complete successfully.
I find writing and maths hard, can I still do your LTW programme?
Yes. This isn’t like school. You don’t have to write much or do maths. You have to be willing to join in with the activities.
I just want help to get a job, do I have to do your programme?
No, but when you meet with one of our Youth Advisors, they will talk to you about what support you need from us. If you are work ready then we can help you update your CV and cover letter and give you interview prep.
I have a criminal record or charges, will you still work with me?
Yes. We can help you better understand what the charges are and if they will effect what type of job you can apply for.
