Youth Employment Programme

Locations: Taita

Duration: 14 Weeks – there are two programmes beginning in February and August

Cost: FREE

Our programme helps Rangatahi learn skills that will help them get a job and keep a job. Developed by COMET, the Youth Employability Programme (YEP) provides learning activities to build the key competencies employers have told us they want their young workers to have:

  • Positive Attitude
  • Communication
  • Teamwork
  • Self-management
  • Willingness to Learn
  • Thinking skills (problem solving and decision making)
  • Resilience

These learnings are then applied in work experience placements. Local businesses provide work experience where new skills are developed, teamwork can be practiced, and references can be added to CVs.

In the programme, we provide:

  • Learner Driver Licence
  • CV and Cover Letter
  • Interview practice and clothes
  • First Aid Certificate
  • Kai for breakfast and morning tea

You will receive on-going support for whatever you need from the team at Youth Inspire to ensure that you can succeed on this programme.

We help you get your driver licence, First Aid, Site Safe, and other certificates you need for employment.

If you are work ready but need help with a CV, interview prep, interview clothes and work placements, we can help you. We have partnerships with many businesses in the Lower Hutt and Wellington area that have direct employment opportunities from time to time.

Rangatahi registered with us all receive support from our trained Youth Advisors. Whatever your needs are, we can provide care and support without judgement. Our wellbeing model is based on Te Whare Tapa Whā.
